HaGha Kosa (Pashto Sad Poetry)
Brief description:
The main purpose of this poem is the demonstration between the old and the new generation. Although the world was not so developed in past, still people lived in love with each other. Social life was great, people shared each other’s good and bad times. People used to live in mutual cooperation with each other.
However, the world has developed a lot today; still there is no more love and affection available between people. Everyone is immersed in their own problems. The engagements of the new age have separated people from each other.
In this poem, Sahib Shah Sabir has addressed his beloved and reminded him of his old days. The poet says to his beloved, “Even today, Forced by habit, I turn to the neighborhood where you lived. I would come to your neighborhood see you secretly. Our love was famous throughout your neighborhood. Everyone knew me and you.”
Then he says that some people in your neighborhood were my friends and well-wishers who kept me informed of your situations. While some people were my enemies who did not like me.
Then he says that when I used to come to your neighborhood to meet you, some people would start whispering when they saw me. While some people used to make noise and inform all people of your neighborhood. Because of that, I would face a lot of troubles.
Then the poet says about the new era that, your neighborhood is completely changed today. The houses in your neighborhood have now taken the form of bungalows. But it is not fun available in this neighborhood anymore. Those naughty girls, those careless boys, those simple kids are no longer seen in this neighborhood. People no longer live mutually together.
Then he says that, although today’s era is advanced, it does not mean that people should forget their past and left the relationship with each other.
